INTRODUCTION

Bridging Legacy + Innovation: Reimagining the Mandell Pinder Brand

For nearly four decades, Mandell Pinder LLP has stood as a pillar of excellence in Aboriginal law, championing the rights and interests of Indigenous communities across Canada. Despite their remarkable legacy and contributions, the firm’s digital and brand presence lagged behind, failing to capture the depth and impact of their work. To address this, Mandell Pinder partnered with us to craft a new brand identity and website that would more effectively convey their mission, values, and unparalleled expertise to a broader audience.

Defining a Brand Rooted in Purpose

Mandell Pinder’s approach to law is defined by listening, mutual respect, and collaboration. These principles are not just part of their practice—they are the core of their identity. Our challenge was to translate these values into a visual and digital language that resonated deeply with both their current and prospective clients.

We began by developing a comprehensive brand strategy that would serve as the foundation for all future communications. This included refining their brand messaging to clearly articulate their unique position and mission within the legal landscape. The result was a brand narrative that speaks to Mandell Pinder’s unwavering commitment to advocacy, partnership, and community empowerment.

An Inclusive Visual ID Rooted in Legacy

The new visual identity needed to reflect the firm’s dedication to Indigenous communities and their respect for tradition, while also positioning Mandell Pinder as a modern and forward-thinking legal partner. We created an extensive library of shapes, symbols, and colors, each with historical significance tied to unity, diversity, and the natural world.

These elements were carefully integrated into style tiles that combined symbols, imagery, color schemes, and typography, creating a versatile yet cohesive branding system. After careful consideration, the final design featured a subdued color palette and sleek, minimalist typefaces. The chosen logomark—an elegant monogram of “MP”—artfully blends motifs inspired by nature and Indigenous cultures, encapsulating the firm’s identity in a simple yet profound symbol.

With the visual identity established, we encapsulated the brand’s essence and voice into a comprehensive Brand and Tone + Voice Guide. This document became the cornerstone for all brand communications, ensuring that every touchpoint—from presentations and letterheads to reports and office merchandise—reflected Mandell Pinder’s renewed identity with consistency and integrity.

A Digital Transformation: The New Mandell Pinder Website

The next phase of the project focused on bringing Mandell Pinder’s reimagined brand to life through a new, fully responsive website. Built on WordPress, the site was designed to be more than just a digital business card; it was a platform to showcase the firm’s extensive expertise and thought leadership in Aboriginal law.

We undertook a thorough information architecture process to ensure that the site’s structure supported an intuitive and engaging user experience. The result was a streamlined navigation that guides visitors effortlessly through the firm’s services, history, and resources. Enhanced accessibility features and a refined user interface further reinforced Mandell Pinder’s commitment to inclusivity and user-centered design.

More Than a Website: A Unified Brand Experience

The digital transformation extended beyond the website. We applied the new brand identity across all of Mandell Pinder’s marketing collateral, creating a unified brand experience that permeates every aspect of the firm’s communications. From client presentations and letterheads to office signage and merchandise, every element now tells the same cohesive story—one of a firm deeply rooted in its values, ready to support Indigenous communities with unwavering dedication and expertise.
